Halloween Teaser

Starting October 4th Break + Remake will do a clever craft project each week. What is a clever craft project? I'm glad you asked. All these projects will be with upcycled and recycled materials. The paints I use will all be made in the USA (less shipping cost and waste, solid environmental laws).

Let's start a conversation about where our craft supplies come from and how we as crafters can help create a culture of sustainability, make do and mend, all while having a great time. Creativity is weird in that the more restrictions we put on ourselves, the more cool ideas we come up with.

Let's use what's around!

Upcycled Fabric Headband

Hi!

Today's tutorial is building on one of the previous tuts. Check it out here!

The materials list is pretty straight forward

Hoop Art- pick the piece you want to cut up and make into a headband

Interfacing

Felt- I got my felt from the lovely Benzie Design

Headband- you can get a blank anywhere, or re-use one that you already have

Pins

Thread to match your project

Hot Glue gun- pew pew!

*Sewing Machine- I used one for this project but you don't have to, this will totally work hand stitched as well.

Thanks for watching!

If you make something from the Break + Remake tutorials or if you are a recycle/upcycle crafter come show me your stuff on the Facebook Group page!

Halloween Craftstravaganza is coming up. I'll be doing one tutorial every week for you during October. So awesome it's SPOooOKY!!!

Embroidery Hoop Art

Hi everyone!
I'm really excited about this technique, you can use it to do silk style painting on any fabric.

Big thank you goes out to Nik from Wasting Thyme. She is my co-host for this one and gave
some great tips and tricks.

Here are your list of materials:

Fabric - I got mine donated from the scrap bin at a costume shop
Embroidery hoop - easy to find at second hand/ thrift stores
Fabric paint - in the vid we use Lumiere by Jacquard and Tulip Metallics
Dye-na-Flow - a really thin fabric paint that acts like watercolor or silk paints
Paint brushes
Paint lid/palette
Needle
Thread
Scissors

Here's a template, if you'd like to make yours just like ours - twinsies!

If you guys need help with a watercolor tutorial, let me know in the comments below ;)

If you make this show me on the Facebook group

Picture Frame Jewelry Holder

On this episode we are gonna make a picture frame jewelry holder.

It's really simple and fun to make. So grab your supplies and let's do this.

Grab:
A picture frame
Netting or tulle - Let’s talk below about where to get this
Sewing needle
Thread
Hot glue
Scissors

Big thank you to my co-host Maddie from Folk Dreams Studio.
(Natalie from The Sunshine Grove was behind the scenes)

I got my netting from a friend who makes costumes and knows I’m a hoarder into second hand craft supplies. You can get netting from a big craft chain or you can pull your netting or tulle off of a poofy dress.

Did you make this? Show me! Come over to the Facebook group and upload your pictures

Do you have any craft techniques you want me to cover in a minisode? Comment below and I’ll see if I can help. If I don’t know how to do it, I surely know someone who does!

See you on August 2 with a simple running stitch tutorial.
Thanks for watching
